Christmas Around the World Activities!

When I was in third grade, I remember my teacher had us complete a "Christmas Around the World" project. She let us choose our country, gave us access to non fiction books, and sent us off to explore! This was one of my favorite things we did that year, and I still remember it to this day! Fast forward to 2022, there are so many new resources and technology at our fingertips, which is why I have created this "Christmas Around the World" activity for you and your students to enjoy! Let's jump in!

As an introduction to this resource, I have included directions for use which includes kid-friendly safe websites they can use to research information. Check them out below!

WhyChristmas.com is a great one to use! This is a website that has a whole list of countries and how they celebrate Christmas. Your students will simply click on a country and read all about it.

Kiddle is a great search engine your students can use to research images and information.

Kidrex is another great search engine your students can use to research information.

This resource includes a printable poster, booklet, and passport to add a fun twist to your student presentations! The poster is a quick on-the-go option for you to put on your work wall or bulletin board. The booklet has all of the same elements, with one category on each page.

If you are looking for a fun way to engage your students, you can use this resource to create a travel experience with your class! Tell your students that they will be traveling the world from your classroom.

Your students will be paired or put in groups to create an exciting presentation with the editable template included. When presentation day comes, you will print the “Passport” included in this resource and give one to each student. As they listen to each group present, they will write down 1 or 3 facts they learned (both templates included) about each country and how they celebrate Christmas. Give each group a stamp and have them “stamp” their classmates’ passports showing that they visited that country for the day. So fun! You can take this a step further and have each group bring in snacks or items from that country and decorate your classroom to look like they are in an airport or airplane as they ”travel the world.” Get your creative wheels turning! The possibilities are endless!

If you are looking for a straight-forward digital version for your students to complete on their devices, the digital poster is an option. It is included in this resource in Google Slides. I have also included a Google Slides presentation template in this resource for your students to put together individually or in groups. This is what you will use for the travel experience. Your students will simply type in the information, add some images, and it will be ready to go. I have included a blank slide for your students to add any additional custom information.

I hope this resource will be useful for you and your students this holiday season! If you have any questions feel free to send me a message in the "contact me" tab. Thank you for stopping by!
