Science of Reading Halloween Game!

I am SO excited to share this new Halloween resource with you! I love this time of year and using all the seasonal things in my classroom! That's why I created this fun Halloween game based off the Science of Reading! Y'all... I cannot say enough good things about how the science of reading has transformed my teaching strategies and the growth I've seen in my students. Let's jump in!

First things first, I have included prep and game directions. These tell you what you need to do to prepare this game for your classroom, and how the game works. I have also included a "game card key" for you to know what each picture word will be in case your little learners get stumped.

Now comes the fun part... the game! This resource includes a game board and game cards. I recommend laminating them so you can use again and again! Your students will say the word for the picture, map it with manipulatives, and write it with an expo marker. I used Halloween rings from the dollar store for "map it" and my game pieces. The options are endless! They will write how many sounds were in the word, and use that number to move their game piece along the board. There are bonus cards included as well:

Bat Attack: Go back 3 spaces to get away from the bats!
BOO! You got so scared that you ran back to the start!
Fly up 5 spaces!

Your students will love the surprise of which cards they will be pulling. There are a total of 22 game cards in this resource.
